Plaksha University
Chandigarh, India
Plan A was selected to design and plan Plaksha University, a new engineering and technology university in Mohali, India, an extension of the capitol city of Chandigarh. The greenfield campus will accommodate 8,000 students on 50 acres. The phased project will take approximately 12 years to complete, with the first phase beginning construction in July 2019. The sustainable campus is being designed with a Net Zero objective.
Plan A is responsible for leading the master planning, as well as the design of all the campus buildings. When complete, the campus will total over 3 million square feet. The design for the campus is mindful of the University’s goal of building a forward-thinking campus. Our plan emphasizes non-siloed academic buildings, and innovative classroom typologies, including maker spaces and group interaction classrooms. The central social hub, the two-level Forum, was designed to encourage informal social interactions though a variety of indoor/outdoor landscaped spaces.
